I remember the first time that I went to Chicago. It was spring break of 2015 in March so you can imagine how cold it was. I have gone to this city multiple times since then. Way too many times to count honestly, but every time I go I get a different experience than the one before. For fall break this year I went to Chicago for the purpose of attending a Live podcast. If you’ve never heard of The Read, then you’re really missing out! On their website, the podcast can be summarized as, “Join Kid Fury and Crissle for their weekly podcast covering hip-hop and pop culture’s most trying stars. Throwing shade and spilling tea with a flippant and humorous attitude, no star is safe from Fury and Crissle unless their name is Beyoncé. (Or Blue Ivy.)” (Cited from the read website). My friend, and ex-co-worker, Perry, hooked me onto this show. I hadn’t ever bothered to listen to a podcast before so I was pretty skeptical that it was as good as he was claiming. Let me tell ya this podcast is FUNNY. Also, it’s enlightening, encouraging, and you’ll be having a black ass time no matter where you are in the world. So when I found out that they were doing a Live show in Chicago, yes I paid the $45 to attend.
While in Chi-town, I also took the opportunity to explore more and try new restaurants. This had been the first time I was in Chicago with someone who loves to go out as much as I do. And the entire weekend was spent in a very eloquent turn up if I do say so myself. Perry’s best friend took us around, and I was really happy to get to know the city from someone who had been living there. The entire experience was quite memorable, and I was happy to end the weekend meeting up with other ex-co-workers and doing what we do best: having a good time.
Overall, Chicago for reading days was quite lit, as the kids say. I dare to go again 😉
